As a non-denominational minister and professional wedding officiant I'm asked to officiate in all sorts of circumstances, from shotgun weddings to elopements to 1,000 attendee ceremonies, and I'm even occasionally asked to officiate for a couple who's already married. There are a thousand reasons to be "married", from insurance to power of attorney to health conditions, so some couples have a wedding in advance of their wedding ceremony. And there's good reason to still have the wedding ceremony, to celebrate your union with family and friends, to give them a chance to support you with gifts and cheers, I mean every day is a good day to be surrounded by your people to express your love with your favorite person. Weekends are for weddings.
