So there I was, minding my own business on a Wednesday afternoon, when I got a call from a number I didn't recognize. As a professional wedding officiant and non-denominational minister in Salt Lake, this is not uncommon, but I don't get a ton of them either. Luckily it was exactly what I wanted...I bride and groom from out of town looking for a wedding officiant to oversee a quick elopement. Because the County is closed or restricted right now with COVID going on, I benefit from the people who get turned away from the normal process downtown. This couple was in from Vegas actually, and just wanted a quick wedding ceremony to make things official, so we met at the park, had a couple strangers serve as witnesses, then did a short little ditty that satisfied all the requirements. Then I wished them luck and let them walk out of my life forever. Ha. That's the life of a professional wedding officiant and non-denominational minister, I meet people for a minute in their lives, perform a pretty important function, then they wander off into the wilderness to live together. Gotta love a wedding officiant gig.
