So about 10:00 this morning I answered a call from a number I didn't know, and as happens on a pretty regular basis actually, on the other end is a prospective Bride and Groom who want to get married. Today. So we chat about their needs (a non-denominational minister, wedding officiant, and justice of the peace is one of the only people who can help in that case) and a couple hours later, we met in the lobby of the hotel they're staying in to perform a very quick elopement ceremony...on the eve of the Groom being deployed overseas. Sometimes weddings happen out of necessity, sometimes they're fast and very functional, in the conference room of a Marriott Hotel, and always they are emotional and real and authentic. It's one of the reasons I love being a wedding officiant, I'm the pro and I'm the best man for the job.
