Sometimes we pack into reception halls or campsites or chapels to witness the wedding ceremony, and other times we spread out in the backyard. As a non-denominational minister and professional wedding officiant, sometimes I officiate for for folks who need to blend families and other times I'm officiating a first marriage and even in some cases I'm asked to officiate from a distance, a remote wedding ceremony via Zoom. Sometimes I never even meet my couples in person. All that said, there's nothing quite like a space full of family and friends there to support the marriage and union of two of their people. There's nothing quite like serving as the wedding officiant for people who are unifying their lives.
