After a wedding ceremony is complete, there are number of things that can happen: cut the wedding cake, Bride and Groom first dance, throwing rice, driving away with "Just Married" written on the window. The tradition for all these things embodies celebration of the wedding and a new commitment for a new couple. The wedding cake is amazing though, an artistic culinary achievement if done correctly and a pretty cool moment for the couple to share, or an hysterical moment if the couple is in the right mood. Smashing a wedding cake into your newly wed partner is the perfect way to start a marriage as far as I'm concerned, and as the non-denominational minister, wedding officiant, and justice of the peace, I love to stand witness.
