Last weekend I was a wedding officiant at a wedding for Linsey and Randy, a couple that was smart enough to ask for some signage at the wedding reception center so people could find them. As a non-denominational minister and a professional wedding officiant, I have overseen weddings at dozens of venues, and the details of those weddings are important to think about. The signage, the location for gifts, the organization of the procession, the cues of the music. A wedding is a complex thing, and my job as a justice of the peace is to make the wedding simpler and more authentic and more sincere. Being a non-denominational minister is my favorite thing in the world, and the experience of being a wedding officiant has helped me appreciate the semantics of weddings a ton.
